🌑New Moon 10/21/25
☄☄Our dark New Moon skies might let viewers here in the northern hemisphere get a look at a comet this week, or maybe two! Comets Lemmon and SWAN are both passing as close to Earth as they will this week, giving us the best shot at seeing their flybys. And because of the gases released they will both be green!��

You’ll look for both of these comets shortly after sunset and close to the horizon. They’ll look like rather fuzzy patches, and binoculars will give you a better look.
Comet SWAN will be most visible Monday 10/20 and is going to be in the southwestern sky. It isn’t going to be very easy to see though, as it is moving away from the Sun.�You might have more luck with Comet Lemmon—it will be at its closest around Tuesday 10/21, and you’ll be looking into the northern skies for this one!
