It turns out that orcas exfoliate! Recent footage It turns out that orcas exfoliate! Recent footage captured above the Salish Sea (located off the coast of British Columbia) by the Center for Whale Research, showed two orcas rubbing their bellies together. Between them was a piece of bull kelp. This action, referred to as "allokelping", is a way for orcas to groom each other, and can also assist them with their molting processes. Although animals using tools is not uncommon, this is the first time marine animals have been reported using a tool "socially" to groom. However, this seems fitting as orcas are very social animals!

The "allokelping" footage can be found at Science News' Youtube Channel.

🌑New Moon 6/25 ✨A look at the Boötids? From 🌑New Moon 6/25

✨A look at the Boötids? From June 22 to July 2 there will be an unpredictable meteor shower in the sky—famously, this shower can show little to no shooting stars or a surprise burst. The peak of the shower’s activity will be the night of June 26, but keep an eye out this week for shooting stars high in the evening sky!
