On Earth, the fastest recorded person in a land vehicle (at time of writing) traveled at more than 760 miles per hour. On the Moon the fastest recorded speed is... 11 miles per hour!

The lunar rovers carried on Apollo 15 through 17 were designed to travel at 8 mph. It's unlikely that the lunar record will be broken any time soon- vehicles here on Earth have trouble staying on the ground at high speeds, and the Moon's lighter gravity would make that an even bigger challenge!
