Come explore the museum on a quiet afternoon, then join the Dudley Observatory for an exciting astronomy lesson presented by Dudley Observatory Outreach Astronomer, Dr. Valerie Rapson. Challenger Adventure

Join other museum visitors in this out-of-this-world experience! See what it's like to do experiments in space while working with other visitors to complete your mission. Please Note: Space is limited. Purchase tickets when you arrive at miSci. Space is unlimited, but Adventures are not! limit of 15 seats per mission.

Join RPI students for engineering activities throughout the miSci galleries.

Little Wonders of Science: Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf

Introduce preschoolers to plant science with an educator-led reading of Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert followed by some hands-on activities.

Little Wonders of Science inspires curiosity through stories, play, and special hands-on activities specifically created for children ages 3-5. Held on the third Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning of every month, the Little Wonders of Science program introduces new STEM topics monthly.

Come early for a special 10 am showing in miSci's planetarium of "One World, One Sky" (additional $5/ person), and leave with the materials to continue the study of science at home.

Join miSci for a special girls-only event!

Designed for girls aged 8-13, miSciGirls will be an afternoon exploration and celebration of women in STEM! Female educators from miSci will lead participating girls in hands-on activities from PBS' SciGirls show and others, including:

Engineering & Design:  Deep Sea Diver (buoyancy);  Engineering Mission (shock absorption)

Earth & Space:  Twirling in the Breeze (measuring wind speed);  Star Clocks (constellation identification);   Planetarium show "Losing the Dark," about light pollution

Physical Science:  Print Hints (comparing shoe prints);  Crime Lab Science (using various clues to solve mysteries)

Cost: Free with admission

Parents and/or guardians must accompany participants.

National Astronomy Day

Join miSci, the Dudley Observatory and other partners for special indoor astronomy activities, solar viewing (weather permitting), and planetarium shows.

Night Sky Adventure: 27 Years with the Hubble Space Telescope (presented by the Dudley Observatory)

The Hubble space telescope was placed into orbit in April of 1990. Since then, it has made many amazing discoveries. Celebrate Hubble’s legacy and hope for many more successful years of science!

Night Sky Adventures are astronomy fun for the whole family! Educators from the Dudley Observatory, in conjunction with volunteers from the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers group, present astronomy lessons, planetarium shows and night sky viewing (weather depending). Amateur astronomers and families are invited to bring binoculars or telescopes. One or more telescopes will be provided for public use.

Octagon Barn Star Party and Lecture: Explorations of Jupiter (Presented by the Dudley Observatory)

Presented by the Dudley Observatory at miSci

Join the Dudley Observatory and the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers for star-gazing and an astronomy lesson at the Knox Octagon Barn in Delanson, NY. 

This month's talk with feature Professor Ralf Schauer (SCCC) speaking on “Explorations of Jupiter”.

Octagon Barn Star Parties include 1-hour talks by local astronomy enthusiasts, followed by night sky observing if the weather is clear. Amateur astronomers and families are invited to bring binoculars or telescopes. Telescopes will also be set up for public use. Great for older children and adults!

Rising Stars Astronomy Camp-In

Spend the night under the stars during this camp-in at miSci. Participate in a scavenger hunt and astronomy activities. View the stars with the guidance of the Dudley Observatory's Rising Stars and enjoy a show in the Suits-Bueche Planetarium.

Dinner and breakfast will be served. Recommended for ages 5+.

Cost: Registration is $35 for Children and $18 for Adults. Evening only option available at $18 for Children and $18 for Adults.

Teens are invited to attend a unique presentation by Capital Region undergraduates on their original research on the Albany Pine Bush.
