Night Sky Adventure: FARTHEST: Voyager in Space - Special Screening (Presented by the Dudley Observatory) @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
THE FARTHEST—Voyager in Space, is a spectacular 100-minute documentary that highlights the story of the Voyager missions in celebration of their 40th Anniversary this August. The film will premiere nationally on PBS on August 23rd, but Dudley Observatory at miSci will host a special screening during the July Night Sky Adventure on July 18th @ 7 PM.
This special screening is presented in partnership with the Capital Region's PBS affiliate, WMHT. WMHT will host hands-on activities during the Night Sky Adventure, the film will premiere on their station on Wednesday, August 23rd at 9/8c.
The actual anniversary of the first launch is August 20th, one day before the Great American Eclipse. For those of you in the path, this is a great opportunity to offer your eclipse guests some incredible bonus space content. For those not in the path, it’s a perfect way to capitalize on the national interest in space generated by the eclipse, Cassini, and the Voyager anniversary. Enjoy this special screening of THE FARTHEST during Dudley Observatory's monthly Night Sky Adventure - an evening of astronomy fun for the whole family! The film will begin at 7 PM, and afterward Outreach Astronomer Dr. Valerie Rapson will host a Q&A session and night sky viewing (if weather permits). Amateur astronomers and families are invited to bring binoculars or telescopes. One or more telescopes will be provided for public use.
Cost: FREE Screening and WMHT activities. miSci General Admission will be required for gallery access and participation in the Night Sky Adventure.
